In honor of Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day this month, this weeks blog will be focused around Military wraps and graphics.
A little history on Armed Forces Day: The day was created in 1949 to honor Americans serving in the five U.S. military branches (The Army, The Navy, The Marines, The Air Force, and The Coast Guard) following the consolidation of the military services in the Department of Defense. It was intended to replace the separate Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard Days, but the separate days are still observed, especially within the respective services.
The first Armed Forces Day was celebrated by parades, open houses, receptions and air shows. In 1962, President Kennedy established Armed Forces Day as an official holiday. The United States’ longest running city-sponsored Armed Forces Day Parade is held in Bremerton, Washington.
In 2009, Bremerton celebrated the 61st Armed Forces Day Parade.
Now that you’ve gained some knowledge on this special holiday, why not take a look at some of the military style wraps that we’ve done over the years.
The military gets their vehicles wrapped for many different reasons: To relay a message, support a cause, or even sometimes just for the uniform look of a fleet of matching vehicles. Almost everyday we get inquiries for military wraps and we’ve found a couple things that these requests have in common. First is vehicle type. Both trailers and hummers seem to be the most common military wrapped vehicles. That is probably due to the size as well as the durability of the two choices. As shown above, Military wraps are just as successful at being attention grabbers but with one extra purpose in mind: recruiting. Not only are these wraps done on vehicles that the military already owns for positive advertising and publicity, but also to grab peoples attention and to get them interested in serving their country.
Another thing these requests have in common is coverage. Almost never do we get requests for anything less than a full wrap. These military wraps are 100% vinyl masterpieces. Because the customer always is looking forward to a full wrap, color and design gets to be more interesting and complex. Again, looking above at the designs on both the Hummer H1 and the Trailers, you can see that both vehicles make a huge and clear statement.
Now, unlike the photos above, other wraps that are popular with the military (and some hunters as well!!) are the camo wraps. This real-world camo design also uniforms a fleet very nicely while still having a very practical use.
